When I lived in NYC I prided myself on knowing where most of the bathrooms were that was open to the public. Being a bike messenger in Manhatten you needed to know these things. Well I found a list of Northampton bathrooms from another site, Visit Northampton and I thought I would post to this blog.

Comment:
2, single-stall bathrooms. Both big enough for wheelchairs but I’m not sure that the downstairs of Haymarket has a wheelchair entrance. It might in the back of the building.

NORTHAMPTON
MA 01060-3105

Directions
Downstairs in the Unitarian Society — accessible entrance on side, with elevator access to basement level.
Comment:
The building is usually locked. These bathrooms are available to people who attend events at the Society. Bathrooms are labled Men/Transgender/Accessible, and Women/Transgender/Accessible. The assumption is that people will self identify however they want, and no one freaks out.

They\’re open until 10 most nights, and would never notice if you didn\’t buy anything.
Paul & Elizabeth\’s Restaurant
150 Main Street
Northampton
MA 01053-5307

Accessible:Yes
Availability:$$$ must/should buy something
Directions
This is a restaurant on the main floor of Thorne\”s Marketplace. Look for the big green awning that says Thorne\”s on it if you\”re unfamiliar with Northampton.
Comment:
This is a vegetarian restaurant, so you need to buy something. They also keep the key at the counter so you need to ask for it. They\’re not the friendliest people in the world, but that seems to apply to everyone no matter the sexuality or gender identity. However, their food is delicious and they\’re on of the only vegetarian restaurants in Northampton.

Bathrooms are straight past the counter in the back of the restaurant.
Comment:
This is a great burrito place with counter service (you bus your own table). I\’m pretty sure they would prefer you to buy something, but I\’ve never seen anyone \”get in trouble\” for going straight back to the restroom.
